URGENT: Returning & Retrieving Items at Lakeland Ridge

Dear families,

First, I want to begin by letting you all know that staff miss our Lakeland Ridge students and their families. We hope you are all doing well and staying healthy. Thank you to all families who have reached out!

Continuing learning from home

As indicated in the message sent out by EIPS yesterday, staff are working on the best way to deliver lessons to students during the closure. While we are preparing to do so, we await direction from Alberta Education on how best to get that content out to students and assess assignments remotely. Once we have a plan in place, we will reach out to families to share those details. We appreciate your patience, as offering remote learning comes with a variety of challenges and it will take time to finalize our process. We will have a plan in place shortly and will share this with you.

The following items contain information on how to retrieve belongings from school and what to return.

Retrieving belongings from school

Beginning this afternoon, families can make arrangements to come and collect items from desks, lockers and physed lockers. We will be asking families to come and take all their child’s materials home, as we are not sure when classes will resume. To minimize the number of people in school at any given time and to provide some flexibility for families, we will be using the same booking system we use to book Parent/Teacher conferences. https://www.schoolinterviews.ca/ Families can go online and use access code j22wy and book a time to come in. If you have more than one child, you only need to book one time slot.

Please ensure you bring enough bags to collect all desk materials, shoes, water bottle(s), locker contents including gym lockers for junior high students. Be sure to check the lost and found table that will be set up near the front door. Please have a look to see if any of these materials belong to you. Items not picked up will be donated to charity.

Please remember to self-assess your health before coming. We ask that you only come to school if you are healthy, as outlined in the guidelines set forth by Alberta Health Services. If you do not feel well or fit into one of the criteria for self-isolation, please call the school to make other arrangements, as you will be turned away at the door if you show any symptoms of illness. We ask that you limit the amount of people that come to school with you.

Returning items to school

If you have any team jerseys or uniforms, sports or band equipment, school library books or textbooks at home, please return them to school. There are digital textbooks available online for learning. Should you not have access to a textbook online and wish to keep your textbook for now, you may do so. If you wish to keep your library books at time, this is also okay. We ask that students wanting to keep any of their books, please bring their books and see Ms. Lake or a staff member in the library to sign them out for the remainder of the year.

Please note: Everyone must enter through the front doors only! As we are adhering to AHS guidelines, we have a small window of time for each group. Please arrive as close to the start of your assigned time slot as possible and be efficient gathering your contents within the building as people will be unable to congregate in or around the building. You will be expected to vacate the premises/parking lots as soon as you are finished. Families are expected to come during their assigned time slot only in order to limit the group sizes. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us minimize the risk of infection, and keeping staff, students and families safe.

Please click here for the attached Student Item Checklist to assist you with this process.

Within the next day or so, we will be sending home a message with a plan for learning. For now, stay healthy and take care of one another.

Sincerely,

Jeff Huculak M.Ed.
Principal
