The Show Options:
This year’s production will be either High School Musical, or both High School Musical 1 AND 2! This depends on how many people would like to be involved in the play. Stay tuned!
The Commitment:
We will begin rehearsing this show at the beginning of October, immediately after our auditions are completed. As this is a musical production with scene work, singing and choreography, we will have a full rehearsal process and therefore your student will be responsible for attending all of their rehearsals. Otherwise, it will be impossible to bring this show together.
That being said, here is an overview of rehearsals and time commitment:
- October - Tuesdays after school (3-5pm) + 1 Saturday (1-4pm)
- November - Tuesdays after school (3-5pm) + 1 Saturday (1-4pm)
- December - Tuesdays after school (3-5pm) + 1 Saturday (1-4pm)
- January - Tuesdays after school (3-5pm) + 2 Saturdays (1-4pm)
- February - Tuesdays after school (3-5pm) + 2 Saturdays (1-4pm)
- March - Tuesdays after school (3-5pm) + 2 Saturdays (1-4pm)
- MARCH 13 - 17 SHOW WEEK!!
- March 18th, cast party (6-9pm)
For the most part, rehearsals will take place at the above times. Some individual scenes/songs may be practiced at lunch hour or additional after school rehearsals as well. Not all performers and technicians will be called to every rehearsal, so it is the participant’s responsibility to be on top of their schedule.
NOTE: technicians meet on Wednesdays after school. You will be provided with a separate schedule as a technician. The commitment is the same, only Wednesdays instead of Tuesdays.
Important Notices:
- Due to our tight practice schedule, students will not have time to leave the school for a snack after the bell on Tuesdays. Rehearsal begins promptly at 3:15pm. Please send an after school snack in lunch if your student needs one.
- If a student is repeatedly asked to stop or limit a particular behavior during rehearsals, his or her participation in our show will be reviewed.
- If a student needs to miss a rehearsal due to illness, doctor appointments or other extenuating circumstances, please email Ms. Dahl @ laura.dahl@eips.ca
- If your student is involved in other extracurricular activities that may conflict with either after school or Saturday rehearsals and/or performances, let Ms. Dahl know so that we can make it work! Communication between home and school is key to making this a successful experience for all.
The Show:
We will be performing the show at Lakeland Ridge, March 15-17. There will be a matinee and two evening performances on all of these dates.
The Auditions:
The first round of auditions will be held October 4-8 at lunch and after school. They will take place in the Drama room(122). Students will audition for a small panel of the production staff, including Ms. Dahl, Ms. Molyneaux, and Ms. Newnham. All students from grades 7-9 may sign up for an audition.
Extra-curricular participants in grade 6 can sign up and will be considered once the show has been cast. Our maximum cast/crew numbers are 100, so elementary participation will depend on Jr high interest.
We Need Help!
Parents, if you are willing and able to give any help to our production, we would gladly accept it. Please attend a Wolves Drama parent meeting Tuesday, September 13th at 7:00pm for more information and planning! If you cannot make the meeting, but would like to help, please contact Laura Dahl @ laura.dahl@eips.ca.
This is going to be an amazing year for Wolves Drama and we are beyond excited to work with you all to create an outstanding production!!
Sincerely,
Laura Dahl, Jillian Molyneaux, Holly Newnham, Janine Moravec
