Welcome to Grade 5! My name is Mrs. G. Verbitsky and I have been teaching in the district since 1989 when I graduated from the University of Alberta. I started my career at Lamont Junior-Senior High, my hometown school, that I graduated from. The middle years of my career were spent teaching in Fort Saskatchewan until I arrived here at Lakeland Ridge in 2011 when I shifted my career to Division II. I do have to say that I have taught a few parent/child duos over the years!!
My teaching experience entails 21 years in the junior high setting teaching social studies and physical education. When I ventured into upper elementary I started teaching grade 4 and now reside in grade 5. I am proud to be one of the Elementary Track Team coaches for our school as athletics are dear to my heart!
My love and passion for teaching is as strong as ever. Every year brings bright new faces eager to learn. I feel so blessed to be entrusted with your child in my class and try to help them reach their full potential.
I enjoy gardening, golfing, and being outdoors. Family vacations to tropical destinations with my husband and two children are very precious to me. I love spending hours at the rink watching my daughter, niece, and nephews play hockey at very competitive levels. My two children, Ryan and Vanessa, are currently pursuing university degrees.
In keeping the doors of communication open I will be asking parents to sign up for the Remind App, if you are a Rogers carrier you will need to download the app. This sign up is quick and easy, and it will be done at the beginning of the school year. I will use this form of communication to remind you about homework assignments, tests, field trips, and other important notes.
“To teach is to touch a life forever.”
