Thank you for stopping by to learn a little more about me. I have been a proud member of the Lakeland team since 2013 and have been with Elk Island since 2009. After bouncing around a few schools I finally found a home here at Lakeland.
I mainly teach junior high physical education classes, the sports performance option and sometimes the recreational fitness option. I truly enjoy working with students in the phys ed area as I get to see a side of the students most others do not. One where they can express themselves in other ways besides through assignments and coursework. While they get that much needed physical activity which will help them achieve more in the classroom. It is also an opportunity for the students to engage in and practice critical lifelong skills. Learning to work with others in a team environment, communicating in a positive and productive manner, and treating people with respect just to name a few. One of my foundations as a teacher is building relationships with the students I work with. By doing so everyone can enjoy being physically active in a safe and inclusive environment. It is an honor for me to engage and help students with these many personal skills and get to use physical activity to do it.
I am still quite active myself in a few different activities and enjoy doing many of them with my family. I have two little ones of my own who also keep me very busy. I enjoy coaching many activities and teams for the school, in the community, and most importantly, for my own children. I have coached grassroots level sport, all the way to national team and Olympic level competition. Sport has given me so many life lessons and experiences which have helped shape who I am today. I hope that through teaching phys ed and coaching I can help the people I work with not only achieve their personal and sporting goals, but also learn value lessons which in turn may help shape who they become.
Thanks for stopping by and please feel free to reach out via email if you have any questions.
