Lakeland Ridge School has always been on the cutting edge of new initiatives and we are continuing this tradition by taking part in a revolutionary program, based on Stephen Covey's popular book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, called The Leader In Me.  We are just in the planning phase of this innovative program so please check back often to learn more.  To have a sneak peek at the philosophy and to hear about the components of this program please explore the following link:  http://www.theleaderinme.org/what-is-the-leader-in-me/

Read The Leader In Me blog to hear what other schools have to say about their experience with this program:  http://www.theleaderinme.org/blog/

Re-Imagining our Sherwood Park Schools: Student, Program, and Boundary Planning

Community Consultation

As part of the Re-Imagining our Sherwood Park Schools: Student, Program, and Boundary Planning project, Elk Island Public Schools is conducting a series of community consultation meetings to gather input and feedback from our parents, students, and staff. This project will look at school boundaries and possible grade configurations in Sherwood Park, and how changes in either of these areas might impact programming in our schools. Our key stakeholders will be looking at demographic and population issues and trends in Sherwood Park, and brainstorming how we can best:

·         make use of our facilities,

·         consider various grade configurations, and

·         provide programming

for the maximum benefit of all our students, now and in the future.

The first conversations will take place throughout February and March. To facilitate the parent conversation, Lakeland Ridge School will be hosting a special School Council meeting on Thursday, Feb. 23rd  at 6:30 pm, and we invite all parents to join us for this meeting.

At this meeting, parents will have the opportunity to review information about the current and projected statuses of our Sherwood Park schools and put forward some questions and ideas about how we should move forward. The information gathered at this meeting will help inform the conversations at later stages in the process.

We encourage you to take this opportunity to share your input on student, program, and boundary planning for our Sherwood Park schools. Your involvement will help ensure we put forward the best possible recommendations for the maximum benefit of all students.

To help us anticipate attendance numbers for this School Council meeting, if possible, please RSVP to the school office at 780 416-9018 to let us know if you plan to join us for this conversation.

For more information about this project, please contact Principal Karen MacDonald at 780 416-9018.

Important Information for Junior High Parents

This year Elk Island Public Schools introduced a new student information system. It allows the parents of junior and senior high students the opportunity to access their son's/daughter's attendance and grades through a secure computer portal. Our parent information evening about the system and how to access it was held on Monday, October 4th. If you were unable to attend the meeting, we sent home information to you. Instructions and secure passwords were given to your son/daughter in sealed envelopes. If you didn't receive your information, please ask your son/daughter for it or contact the school.

The following instructional video is meant to help parents with logging into the Parent Portal of PowerSchool.  It is presented in two formats, Quicktime (.mov) and Windows Media Player (.wmv).  Please choose the link that works with your computer software.

The links are as follows:
